I am a student of the world of tea and although I have researched many aspects of tea extensively, there is still a tremendous amount to learn.
You article opens a new perspective on tea. That is why I liked it.

A wonderful report even for those of us in attendance. When participating in a trade show it is often times hard to enjoy the educational sessions around us. I'm glad to catch up on some of the events.]]>

Hi, you forgot to fill in what percent...
"All in all, tea does pretty well against other beverages in terms of its carbon footprint, coming in at only % of the carbon footprint of bottled beer."
Thank you for your blog!]]>

How funny, I was just drinking and twittering about the same tea this morning! It is indeed a very fine oolong; quite magical, really. I usually go by "feel" when steeping teas, but reading your article I realize that I've subconsciously picked up a lot throughout the years that adds to the "feel" for brewing. I've still much to learn though; I guess I'd better keep drinking fine teas.]]>

That's good news about the kid who discovered tea in Chinatown. I'd like to add that a lot of Yi Xing pottery is for men too. I have several mugs. One of them does have plum blossoms on it and those are flowers. But I have a few that are made just like old beer steins from the days before tea replaced it as a morning drink in Britain. I don't know how much more masculine you can get than that.]]>

Absolutely agree: Women enjoy "afternoon tea" but many of the most serious tea drinkers I know are men. I think it is the geek factor with the various teawares and concerns about water temperature and steep times.]]>

Well said! It is also the tea most often used in cooking by chefs, many of the best who are, of course, men. Thanks for your comment. BT]]>

I'll mark down this tea festival as one I'd like to go to someday. That's because I'm another author of a tea book. I'm now writing my first tea book, called "Spirituality of Tea." It will be available in a few months.]]>

You bet, Lainie. There are plenty of women for whom tea takes a back seat to aspirations of neo-Victorian social forms. We're looking at nothing less than the rumblings of a tea gender clash.]]>
